Am quite happy I wrote a memo of thanks after a survey, like I said I would at an earlier post. It really isn't easy crafting then collating the results and deciphering what to do with the data.

Helped a pair of people with directions. Simple and normal thing right? I only realised how important my role is when they couldn't decide if they want to get off at the next bus stop or another one that does not require them to cross an overhead bridge. (By stopping at the first stop, they need to do so.) Magical thing is I don't know how my gloomy face was smiling so broadly as I watched the pair walk away.

Never again will I belittle such a small act of kindness and let that be an excuse not to be nice to others.

When people thank us for our efforts, I feel heartened. However, we should reflect how many times do we write a simple thanks for everything - not to the person, but on a piece of survey paper.

Personally, I don't.

I only do if something good happens, and I'll write a complimentary letter to the organisation, but no, not every time for every small thing.

At last, I managed to find someone to give my seat to on the MRT. For some of the aged who never can find a seat on the MRT, it felt as if I were grabbing seats so that I could reserve it for them by readily standing up when they board. This aged man thanked me the other day, and I thought why not make it better?

"You are welcome, but this seat is (already) for you." I said. This is what the gracious movement is trying to say, and this is what I did to make the experience more pleasant. I hope my act did inspire those around us that day. No matter whether you give up seats, don't take seats, or more towards the extreme by snatching seats for others, or trying to make the atmosphere more pleasant, it is a step forward to helping those in real need.

One would normally associate those big, beefy guys in the gym to come off as unapproachable people. But today, one of these people thanked me politely, sincerely with a smile when I wiped off the bench for him to use (after me).

I guess it's just the tension they are feeling within themselves. Goes to show that there are nice people out there regardless of their first impressions. And this person has inspired me to go places to discover acts of kindness!

Whatever I don't know I would have wanted to ask you, I'll save it for the next person who could treat me better than you did. It will be part of the series that will replace my memories with you.

Actually, why am I still giving you concessions now? The stark experience of not replying my messages even now should more than remind me of how you treated me in the past.

All I wish is for another's voice to be in unison with mine.
