Right in front of my eyes, a lady gave up her seat to a pregnant woman, accompanied by her husband, yesterday. Yet, there was no sound of gratitude. The worst part? The couple did not even acknowledge the presence of the kind woman.

Please, if your mouth is full, smile. If your face muscles are not under your control, nod your head. If your situation is that bad, then please, at least look at the person - acknowledge them!

A small kid lost his balance on the train, and I supported him, much to his mother's relief. Then, I gave up my seat to allow them to sit together. A simple thanks and smile made my day.

My friend, who works in army, got a free taxi ride home. The most commendable part was the driver said "Thank you for serving the nation".

This is voluntary, not required, and most of all, really commendable. This post is not to ask everyone to give freebies - though it would be nice - but these occasional perks do help to keep this nation's heart beating.

In the sudden rain yesterday, I was smiling at the wonder of the serenity of the weather. Then, a stranger smiled back at me. It's a long time since I smiled at strangers, and have others warm up my hearts in the cold weather. After all, we are all neighbours!

The other day during lecture, when the lecturer ends off lesson by opening up the floor to the question, one person asks this after the lecturer just said "There is no stupid questions. There is no stupid answers."

"Is there any source based questions in the final exam?"

I felt it was a question less asked, as varsity-level examinations set one liner "straight forward" questions for arts modules requiring the candidates to write essays.

I was appalled when the lady in front of me started typing on twitter demeaning and ridiculing the person virtually. Something along the lines of "Now still got people ask this kind of question." Of course, harsher words are censored out, including her referring to this as a stupid questions - something the lecturer just said.

I hope she does not mean anything else other than to increase her hits, otherwise, it would really be challenging to change Singaporeans' mindset.
